How to Manage Tidal Streaming quality

Tidal gives you this opportunity to download and listen to your desired music with different quality. Here we are going to explain how to change the Tidal streaming quality in iOS, desktop, web client, and android app and learn how to choose your desired quality when you are using the Tidal app.

TIDAL platform provides music in different streaming qualities including normal, high, Hi-Fi, and master. You can control the streaming quality through TIDAL apps and Web Client. If you want to listen to TIDAL music with high qualities such as Hi-Fi and Master, you need to upgrade your account. The streaming quality in TIDAL free account is normal. High fidelity music quality which we shorten it to Hi-Fi, is a high-quality streaming that the frequency of the noise and distortion in this quality is not within the human hearing range, which means you will not hear any noise and distortion while you are streaming a music on Hi-Fi. Despite the high-quality of recordings in Hi-Fi, you are not be able to stream Hi-Fi higher than 44.1 kHz / 16 bit. If you want to have the highest streaming quality, which is the original quality of the recorded music, you need to choose Master. Master quality is not limited, and its range differs from CD-quality, to 96 kHz / 24 bit which is way more than Hi-Fi. Also, in some cases, you may experience the ultra-high-resolution qualities with sample rates of 192 kHz and higher.

How to Change the TIDAL Streaming Quality Using iOS Devices.

TIDAL lets you to change the streaming quality through your iOS devices such as iPhone and iPad. After installing the TIDAL app on your iOS device, which you can visit the How to Get TIDAL page to learn how to download and install the TIDAL iOS app. After signing into your TIDAL account, follow the instructions below:

  1. Select My Collection.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. In the Quality section select Streaming option.

  4. Here you can choose the streaming quality you want.

As you can see in the first picture, the Settings icon is in the My Collection page. In the second picture, you can see the Streaming option under Quality. In the last image you can see the list of the different qualities. As it is shown in the picture, you can choose different qualities for Wi-Fi and cellular internet connection.

How to Change the TIDAL Streaming Quality Using Desktop App.

You are allowed to control TIDAL streaming quality on your PC or Mac using the TIDAL desktop app. If you want to manage the quality of the music you want to listen, follow the steps below. We provided step-by-step pictures to ease your quality managing procedure:

  1. Click on the three-dot sign.

  2. Go to settings and select the Streaming option.

  3. You have four quality options, including normal, high, HiFi, HiFi/master (studio quality) Depending on your subscription type you can select the quality you want.

In the home page of TIDAL desktop app, next to your profile image, there is a horizontal three-dot sign (first picture, step1). Click on the sign then a drop-down list will open with the Settings option. In Settings menu there is a bar with three sections, Account, Streaming, and About TIDAL (picture number2). In the streaming tab, under Quality, in the Streaming Audio Quality section, select your desired quality from the list.

How to Change the TIDAL Streaming Quality Using Android App.

The changing streaming quality process in TIDAL android is similar to TIDAL iOS. After installing the app and signing into your account follow the steps below. You can use the pictures to complete the procedure easily.

  1. Tap on My Collection.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. In the Quality section select Streaming option.

  4. Here you can choose the streaming quality you wish.

Look at the first picture, the Settings sign (a gear) is in the My Collection page. In the second picture, under Quality you see the Streaming option. By choosing the Streaming option, the list of the different qualities will be shown (look at the last image). As it is shown in the picture, you can choose different qualities for Wi-Fi and cellular internet connection. It is obvious that the higher qualities need more internet traffic, so be careful about choosing the quality.

How to Change the TIDAL Streaming Quality Through Web Client.

In case you do not have TIDAL app installed on your device and you want to control the streaming quality, you can use TIDAL Web Client. Web Client is the web version of TIDAL platform which lets you to have access to your TIDAL account without having the TIDAL app on your device. The features available on TIDAL app are also available on Web Client. In order to change the streaming quality through Web Client, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to listen.tidal.com

  2. Sign into your TIDAL account using your username and password.

  3. Click on the three-dot sign.

  4. Go to settings and select the Streaming option.

  5. You have four quality options, including normal, high, HiFi, HiFi/master (studio quality). Note that depending on your subscription type you can select the quality you want.

As you can see in the picture below, first you need to visit listen.tidal.com and then log into your account. You will see a horizontal three-dot sign next to your profile picture. Click on the sign, a drop-down menu will be shown. Select Settings in the menu. Settings page has three tabs including Account, Streaming, and About TIDAL. Click on the Streaming tab. Under Quality, in the Streaming Audio Quality section you will see the list of the different qualities that you can choose the one you want.
