Sometimes you want to freeze a cell in your worksheet, for that you can follow these steps.
How to Freeze Panes in Excel
There are different methods for freezing panes in Excel, here we are going to explain some of them.
You can use split command for splitting the sheet. After you use this command, the sheet will be split into four or two parts and then you can freeze each part which you need.
How to Freeze Row in Excel
If it is important for you to freeze a row.
1- In the first column, click on the cell that you want to fix the rows which placed at the top of it.
Here we select “A2” cell, so the split line will appear between rows number two and Three.
2- Click on the “View” tab.
3- Click on the “Split” key.
Now you can see the Split line has appeared between rows number two and three.
Now you have two different screens, you can scroll up or down on each window which you want.
when you are happy with the location of the rows in your desired screen which you want to fix it.
4- Select the Screen which you want to fix, here we are going to fix screen number one and then click on “Freeze Panes”.
5- In the drop-down list choose “Freeze Panes” again.
Here you can see the rows of the table can move but at the same time, the first row of the table is fixed.
How to Freeze Rows and Columns Simultaneously in Excel;
First Method;
You can use from “Freeze Panes” command for freezing columns and rows simultaneously.
For that,
1- click on the cell which was placed:

Under your desired row and
-
On the right side of your desired column.
Now you have four different windows in your sheet.
2- The next step is freezing one of these windows.
For that,
- Select one of the windows, here we should select window number four.
3- Click on the View tab.
4- Click on the “Freeze Panes”.
5- In the dropdown list select “Freeze Panes” again.
Now you can see the blue row and the first column in the table were freezed.
Second Method;
You can also freeze your desired row and column by following these steps;
1- Select the cell in the table which is placed on the right side of your desired column and bottom of your desired row.
2- Click on the “View” tab.
3- Click on the “Freeze Panes”.
4- In the dropdown list select “Freeze Panes” again.
Now If you change the location of the selected cell in the sheet you can see the first column and first row of the table were freezed.
The only differences between the first and second method are in the first method you can change the arrangement of each window before fixing each of them.
How to Unfreeze Panes in Excel.
1- Click on the View tab.
2- Click on the “Freeze Panes”.
3- Click on the “Unfreeze Panes”.
