For showing ruler you should follow these steps;
How to Show Horizontal Ruler in Word
1- Click on the View.
2- In the Show part, select the Ruler box.
At the top of the page you can see the horizontal ruler.
How to Show Vertical Ruler in Word
1- Click on the File tab.
2- Click on the Option.
3- Click on the Advanced.
4- In the Display part, select the “Show vertical ruler in Print Layout view” box.
5- Click on Ok.
In the Left side you can see the vertical ruler.
